A lot of industrial processes have trouble with uneven heating in long equipment parts, especially when they use many short cartridge heaters that leave cold regions or need sophisticated wiring. This inefficiency frequently means using more energy, taking longer to heat up, and wearing out equipment too soon, all of which can throw off production schedules and raise operational expenses. For applications that need even heat distribution over long distances, the 1000mm long cartridge heater has become a trusted solution that solves these frequent problems without sacrificing performance.


A cartridge heater is a tube-shaped heating element that fits into drilled holes and sends heat to specific locations in a focused and efficient way. The 1000mm long version, which is sometimes called a "extra-long cartridge heater," is made to cover more areas or deeper holes in industrial machines, so you don't need to use many shorter heaters. The 1000mm variant has a longer heating element wrapped around a ceramic core and loaded with magnesium oxide (MgO) insulation to keep electrical shorts from happening and make sure that heat is evenly distributed throughout its length. If there is too much space (more than 0.05mm), the heater may overheat. If the fit is too tight, the heater's sheath may be damaged. In reality, most manufacturers say that a gap of 0.02–0.05 mm is best for transferring heat. Second, look at the watt density. The 1000mm cartridge heater usually runs at a watt density of 5–7 W/cm², which strikes a compromise between quick heating and a long lifespan. If you use a higher watt density than what is recommended, the device may burn out. If you use a lower density, it may not be able to heat properly.

Choosing the right sheath material is also very important. You can typically get the 1000mm cartridge heater with stainless steel, Incoloy, or titanium sheaths. Incoloy is best for high-temperature situations (up to 650℃), whereas titanium is best for corrosive environments, such chemical processing. Stainless steel is good for general use. Regular maintenance is also important. Check the heater for signs of damage or corrosion, and clean the drilled hole from time to time to get rid of material that can hinder heat transfer.
